Francesco Pesci, CEO of Brioni SpA, has confirmed that the decision has been made by the management committee to close the womenswear division.
According to the statement released by Brioni:
"This strategic decision has been made in order for the company to re-focus its resources on the men's market, which is recently becoming both increasingly competitive and global.
"It is with regret that the company confirms the termination of the working relationship with Alessandro Dell’Acqua. The Fashion Show scheduled to take place on Sunday 25th September in Milan, has now been cancelled.
"The Management Committee would like to thank Alessandro Dell’Acqua for his excellent work achieved, whilst working for Brioni.
"The CEO has already informed the Trade Union about this decision, in order to arrange the handling of the industrial and employment consequences. He denies previous plans about distribution increasements and any connections with the rumors that have been published about the company last July."
