Uniqlo unveils its new Innovation Project
in partnership with Nicola Formichetti

Uniqlo has today launched the first collection under the new Uniqlo Innovation Project (UIP) concept. The collection launched online at 1am with free delivery for the first week, and is available to buy in store at 311 Oxford Street, London W1 and Uniqlo Westfield London.

Through working with creative talent; Design Director Naoki Takizawa, Creative Director Kashiwa Sato and Style Director Nicola Formichetti (the collection was showcased for the first time in Formichetti’s pop-up store in New York last weekend), the UIP features a versatile collection of garments with cutting-edge fabric technology. Uniqlo has employed a range of international companies, headed by Toray Industries Inc. to develop a new approach to clothing production, by creating a process that prioritises the product and functionality above all else:

Dry - Fibre technology quickly absorbs and dries moisture. Perspiration dries up instantly, so the fabric remains dry and refreshing
Dry-Ex - The uniquely designed arch-shaped fibres dry moisture quicker than conventional ‘dry’ fibres, ensuring extra skin comfort
Stretch - Stretches to fit snugly without bagginess or restricted movement
Water Resistant - Blocks wind and prevents water from soaking into clothes
Wind Proof - Prevents wind from passing through clothing
Water Repellency - Repels rain and other water
Heat Retention Maintains a layer of warmth
Anti-Bacterial - Reduces the bacteria that causes unpleasant perspiration odours
UV Cut- This product offers UV filtration features, that have been added during fabric processing
Durable Water Repellency - Repels rain and other water with durable resin finish
Breathable - Prevents moisture perspiration from accumulating in clothing
