Winners announced for The Jasmine Awards

The Jasmine Awards, the premier awards for journalists writing on the subject of fragrance, were held this morning at BAFTA, Piccadilly, London W1. Presiding over the event was: Blake Hughes, Chairman of the Jasmine Awards and Elizabeth Arden UK Managing Director; and Peter Norman, Chairman of The Fragrance Foundation. The judging panel who reviewed articles specifically written on the subject of fragrance throughout 2013 included: industry expert Joanna Norman, Chairman of the Judging panel; alongside author Elizabeth Buchan; Ruth Newman, House of Fraser Director of Beauty; Broadcaster Natasha Kaplinsky;  Swimwear & Lifestyle Designer Melissa Odabash; and author S.J. Watson. The following awards were presented:

Best Article in a Customer Magazine - Sharon Parsons for “My Life in Fragrance” in Sainsbury’s Magazine, July.
Best Digital Article on Fragrance - Thomas Dunckley for “The Candy Perfume Boy’s Guide to Violet” published on thecandyperfumeboy.com.
Best Digital Fragrance Experience - Katie Chutzpah for “Tom Ford Releases London” on katiechutzpah.com.
Jasmine Soundbite (news press) - Kathleen Baird-Murray for “On the Scent of a Good Story” in The Financial Times, November.
Jasmine Soundbite (magazines) - Gem Royston-Claire for “Confessions of a Fragrance Floozy” in Company, October.
Best Practical Guide to Fragrance - “Elle’s Fragrance CVs” written by Lorraine Candy, Sophie Beresiner, Amy Lawrenson and Joely Walker.
Most Creative Visual Award - “Elemental Scents” in ShortList, April. Words & styling by Adrian Clark and Mandy Pang.
Jasmine Visual Award - “The Fifth Scent” in GARAGE magazine, September. Words by Odette Toilette and Lee C. Wallick, Illustrations by Charlotte Cassel, Art Direction by Mike Meire and Tobias Tschense.
Jasmine Literary Award (news press) - Lucia van der Post for “Scents of the Divine” in The Financial Times' How To Spend It.
Jasmine Literary Award (magazines) - Neil Chapman for “Perfume Haters” in Odou Magazine.

Also recognised at the awards were the winners of the ‘Junior Jasmines’ the ‘Mighty nose awards’, a new creative writing competition which challenges primary school children to pen smell-inspired poems specifically written on the subject of smells.
