British Fashion Council announces further plans for Britain Creates
The British Fashion Council (BFC) has today announced further plans for its artistic project Britain Creates, as part of the Fashion 2012 platform to celebrate the London Olympic and Paralympic Games. The project, entitled Britain Creates 2012: Fashion & Art Collusion, is led by the British Fashion Council/Bazaar Fashion Arts Foundation and in partnership with the Mayor of London, is an opportunity to celebrate and strengthen the relationships between fashion designers and visual artists. British designers have paired together with contemporary artists including: Giles Deacon and Jeremy Deller; Hussein Chalayan and Gavin Turk; Jonathan Saunders and Jess Flood-Paddock; Mary Katrantzou and Mark Titchner; Matthew Williamson and Mat Collishaw; Nicholas Kirkwood and Simon Periton; Paul Smith and Charming Baker; Peter Pilotto and Francis Upritchard; and Stephen Jones and Cerith Wyn Evans. More names are expected to join in the future.

Britain Creates 2012: Fashion & Art Collusion is part of the London 2012 Festival, a 12-week nationwide celebration from 21 June and running until 9 September, bringing together leading artists from across the world with the best from the UK. The specially created exclusive pieces will be unveiled at a VIP Gala fundraising event on 27 June (see DIARY dates). Monies raised from this event will form part of a bursary to encourage and support emerging artists and designers and to help encourage future collaborations.
